WORKSHOP
Modern Development of Magnetic
Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy.
Basic Physics and Applications in
Medicine and Biology.
1st Circular
June 11-13, 2001 (Monday-Wednesday) Kazan, Russia
Invitation
On behalf of the Organizing Committee you are
cordially invited to attend Workshop "Modern Development of Magnetic
Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy". Basic Physics and Applications
in Medicine and Biology" to be held in Kazan. Republic Taftarstan,
Russia, from June 11-13.2001.
Scope of the Workshop
The aim of Workshop is to provide an open discussion about the new methodological
developments and new trends of MM and NMR and applications in Medicine and Bioldgy. The Scientific
program will include lecture, symposia and discussions covering the latest achievements in current
research and new developments, trends and applications of MRI and NMR in Йш medical diagnostic.
The selection of the topics is based on those relevant fields of MR, where there is already local
expertise v^|the aim, that the presentations will Ipp ^direct impact on the establishment of joint
research projects between basic scientists and сНгисШ^ The international program will be held
with^two-halfdays. Additionally oral sessions from speakers from the former-USSR states as well as ;
jf|j|ster session will be held. One of the national sessitis is planned in English, for the rest of
the Mating (including posters) both English and Russian can be used.
Number of participants is limited 200. Local Committee will intend to prepare Abstracts.
Venue and Transportation
The Workshop will be held at Physical Faculty of Kazan State University and Republic Medical Diagnostic
Center. Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan (in 2005 it mil be celebrated 1000-anniversary).
It has a rich history'in magnetic resonance. The first electron spin resonance experiment has been performed
there, and meanwhile it is apparent, that E.K.Zavoisky (after whom the Zavoisky award of ISMRM has been named)
has also made the first NMR-experiment in his lab there. To this day, Kazan research institutions have very
strong groups in basic and applied science working on NMR and ESR. Currently a new Medical Physics department
is being established with the aim of bringing the existing expertise in MR physics and applications to the
Medical field. Kazan airport is served by Lufthansa. Flight Frankfort - Kazan appears in Kazan on Thursday
and Sunday at 20:50. Flight Kazan-Frankfiirt is on Monday and Friday:
